INVESTIGATION WORK FOR EMPIRE BAY INTERSECTION UPGRADE

11 August 2026

The Australian Government is investing $15 million in better and safer road connections along Empire Bay Drive between Daleys Point and Kincumber, including the intersection of Empire Bay Drive and Wards Hill Road at Empire Bay.

Transport for NSW is carrying out survey investigations on Empire Bay Drive and Wards Hill Road at Empire Bay to help inform and plan for future work.

The work includes surveying the road surface, road reserve, property boundaries and driveways; surveying the topography of the area, including slopes, drainage and trees; and locating existing underground service.

The work will take place along Empire Bay Drive and Wards Hill Road at night from Wednesday 12 August, weather permitting. Working hours are 7 PM to 5 AM and are scheduled to take two nights.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP:

“The Empire Bay Drive and Wards Hill Road intersection has been a constant concern for residents.

“I amplified that concern by supporting a petition to obtain funding from all levels of government towards an upgrade of this vital piece of infrastructure.

“I was pleased to have secured that funding following the 2025 Federal Election and with the strong support of our community.

“I welcome the announcement by the NSW Government, and Transport for NSW, that investigation work will be undertaken in August to identify the necessary details to enable further planning for this project.

“I look forward to keeping our community updated on the progress of this upgrade and ensuring it aligns with expectations.”
